Low Carbon Recruitment Ltd are currently seeking a Technical Design / Team Manager to work for one of the largest Solar PV installation companies in the UK. They have been established for over 25 years and are one of the best in the business for employee satisfaction. They work with the UK’s leading Housing Developers and Construction Companies in the Southeast, the Midlands and Southwest of the UK.
They are seeking a permanent Technical / Design Team Manager to oversee, manage and mentor the design engineers, and technical staff, whilst also overseeing the design and engineering of solar systems for residential and commercial projects.
The role will mainly be office based, with occasional off-site visits which would happen 2-3 times a month.
As a Technical Design Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing the team, assigning/ monitoring tasks, problem solving, trouble shooting and the procurement of new business.
Responsibilities
• Assigning, monitoring tasks and managing the workload for all team
• Conducting regular performance reviews, reporting directly to the company director
• Fully responsible for the design and engineering of solar PV systems for domestic and larger commercial projects.
• Providing training and development opportunities for the team
• Being able to provide technical guidance from Installation to commissioning.
• Ensuring all design work meets all industry standards and health & safety requirements.
• You will need to stay updated on emerging solar technologies, new tolls and trends
Skills
• You will need a strong knowledge of solar PV systems including, full design for all components and grid integration
• Experience in AutoCAD and PVSOL software
• Team Management & Leadership skills
• Problem Solving & analytic skills
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering, with at least 2 years in leadership or management role.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC, BS EN).
• Certifications in solar PV design or project management (e.g., NABCEP, PRINCE2) are advantageous.
• Experience with energy storage systems or hybrid solar solutions is a plus.

• Salary of £40,000 - £45,000
